Octopus NW 150 Gate valve kit

The Mod Kit for the NW150 protein skimmer allows you to better control to height of the water in your skimmer through a gate valve rather than the adjustable standpipe that is included in the base skimmer.

This kit includes:

•1 Quality pvc gate valve
•1 Tee
•1 Elbow
•1 Coupler
•PVC segments needed to retrofit a stock NW150 into a gate valve enabled skimmer.

The Gate Valve Mod Kit allows you the ability to fine tune your skimmer, a gate valve offers precision control of the water level inside your skimmer

You can adjust your skimmer without getting your hands wet

You can direct the exhaust from your skimmer, this is especially useful when trying to reduce micro bubbles. You can direct the water leaving your skimmer to an opposite side of your as your return pump.

Installation Instructions

If you are handy, this is a simple modification to complete. You will need a way to cut PVC and some thickened PVC cement and PVC cleaner on hand to complete this project. The PVC cement and cleaner are readily available at your local hardware store.
1.Remove the sliding stand pipe from the riser pipe.
2.Cut the existing stand pipe, leave 1 inch of the original pipe in place.
3.Use the PVC cleaner on the riser stub and the inside of the PVC coupler.
4.Apply PVC cement to the riser stub and PVC coupler. Slide coupler on the riser stub and allow to setup - this may take upwards of 30 minutes. We are using English size PVC on metric piping. This is why we suggest the use of thickened PVC cement. Once this coupler is in place you will now have English sized PVC that you can work with.◦Note - you will not need to use the PVC cement after this point. We do not recommend gluing any of the other joints in this project.

5.You can now construct the rest of the kit. Follow the picture on this page to complete the installation.
